Posture Monitoring Vest uses a fiber-optic sensor to detect the curvature of the spine. Through a Bluetooth connection, posture data is sent to the user's computer workstation, which provides feedback and reminders to the user when they lapse into unhealthy postures.
Related Publications: Initial investigation of seated spinal posture using 9 optical markers and the CODA motion-capture system. (EMBC '06 Paper) Use
of machine-learning algorithms to determine predictive power of component
vector angles--detail Resulted
in a single-variable model of spinal posture, which was applied to
a wearable sensor, sensor response 96% accurate as compared to the
motion capture system (ISWC '06 paper) Hardware and software system developed (BSN '07paper) Investigation of influence of garment style on sensor performance (ISWC '07 paper)
